Brain Injury Awareness Month

Celebration of Life

This tapestry is to commemorate Brain Injury Awareness Month that occurred this past June.  It was initiated at the Celebration of Life event attended by March of Dimes Canada (MODC), Brain Injury Association of York Region (BIAYR) and Community Head Injury Resource Services (CHIRS).

In light of the current, sobering events at this time in our history, the spirit of the event was one of solidarity with the vulnerable and the invisible for whose voices matter.  The tapestry represents the voices of the Brain Injury Community.  Their voices are represented by words that inspire them or give them joy, in their favourite colour.

Ciara O'Sullivan created the tapestry and Mary DiLallo wrote the poem that was inspired by the piece.
